Dog airline bag “AIR XL-LONG” Lunch & Dinner – Olive
The XL-LONG is the "AIR" version for dogs who like to stretch out: 48 cm of interior length instead of 42, and an optional raised mesh panel for extra headroom. In olive – a muted green that suits any coat and is forgiving of dust and sand – it is hand-sewn by us in Hamburg, IATA-compliant, and weighs 1,220 grams. The large mesh section can be completely closed, as required by airlines; after the flight, you remove it, fold down the side panels, and the carrier transforms into a basket on the patio or a bag for outings.
Three details that matter in everyday travel: an internal hook for securing it to a harness, a side pocket for pet ID and small items, and on the opposite side a tab and strap for attaching it to a rolling suitcase – so you have both hands free at the gate. Five rubber feet on the bottom ensure a secure grip, even on wet airport floors.
Will your dog fit inside?
The XL-LONG has an interior length of 48 cm – six centimeters more than the XL. This is the bag for dogs with long backs who like to stretch out, and for anyone who prefers a comfortable fit over a snug fit. The crucial factor is your dog's lying length, not its weight – weight is only relevant for airline regulations.
Here's how to check in a minute: Measure your dog, curled up or lying on its side, from nose to rear. If it fits within 48 cm with a little wiggle room, the XL-LONG will fit. And if your dog is tall or long-legged – Italian Greyhound, Toy Poodle – add the raised mesh: 15 cm more headroom so it can stand up and turn around in the closed bag, as many airlines require.

The Lufthansa Group (Lufthansa, Austrian, SWISS), Eurowings, and Condor all specify the same maximum dimensions for pets in the cabin: 55 × 40 × 23 cm, a maximum combined weight of 8 kg for the dog and carrier, and the dog must be able to lie down and turn around in the closed carrier. All AIR carrier sizes are designed to fit these dimensions – the EURO fully meets them, while L, XL, and XL-LONG remain below them. TUIfly specifies 55 × 40 × 20 cm, with the AIR carrier, at 23 cm, being three centimeters larger. KLM and Air France (46 × 28 × 24 cm) are too small for the AIR carrier. Ultimately, the ground staff decides whether a carrier is allowed on the day of the flight – the AIR carrier complies with IATA regulations, but no airline grants formal approval.As of August 2026; you can find the current conditions at Lufthansa, Austrian, SWISS, Eurowings and Condor. Instructions for using the bag
Our dog carriers are designed with a secure zipper and a sturdy mesh closure to keep your dog safe during travel. However, the carrier is not a place for your dog to be left unattended.
Puppies and young dogs especially have a strong urge to chew and tend to nibble on zippers, seams, or mesh areas. These parts are not designed for prolonged stress or chewing and can be damaged. Please never leave your dog unattended in the closed bag.
Should your dog start chewing on the material or fasteners, open the bag immediately and stop the behavior. Damage caused by chewing or improper use is not covered by our warranty (§§ 434, 276, 280 BGB).

My toy poodle puppy, Bella is so happy with it, so far I have used it for restaurants but soon we will fly and I am sure that it would be great, she loves to take a nap inside, the blanket is so loving.
I used backpacks with my other two year old toy poodle, Lola but this is much better for both, for me to carry and for her to be inside. My idea was to carry both together as they actually weight 4.5kg but I think that I am going to buy another bag just for her.
So happy I saw it in Mallorca airport and I took a picture because it is a lovely bag.
